GEM Lab Open House, Oct. 2nd
Join us at our Open House in the GEM Lab (FB 630.15, 1250 rue Guy) on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd at 5:30! Learn about the unique audio-visual equipment available to GEM members, our upcoming seminar series on Media and Development, and how to get involved with everything else the lab has to offer! We’ll also introduce a new reading/screening group with a selection of short moving image works that explore popular culture, technology, and politics through the lens of sports.
Colonial Cinema in the Open Air: Ambient Governmentality and “Atmosphere of Mind” w/ Nadine Chan
We’ll be kicking off our 2024-25 Seminar in Media and Political Theory this Thursday, September 26th at 5:30 PM in the lab with guest Dr. Nadine Chan (University of Toronto). Colonial Cinema in the Open Air: Ambient Governmentality and “Atmosphere of Mind” draws from Dr. Chan’s recent work on environmental film and media. Full details here!
